We regularly monitor what our customers have to say about us out there in cyberspace. One of our favorite places to check is Yelp.
If you aren’t familiar with it, Yelp is a great social media tool that allows you to review restaurants, stores, etc. You connect with friends and share tips and reviews. You can do this on your standard desktop or laptop computer as well as your mobile phone. On the Yelp iPhone application, you can check into locations like you can with Foursquare. On the Blackberry, you can’t check in, but you can search nearby places and get lists of restaurants, stores, etc., that are nearby, and read reviews.
Yelp really shines when you’re traveling. You can simply click your way to restaurant recommendations within a certain distance of where you are – or hotels, coffee shops, etc. It will pop up the name of the establishment and even give you a little map to get there. It’s about as handy as apps come.
Two of our diners recently posted very positive reviews on Yelp, and we were thrilled to read these. The first diner called his experience at our Cincinnati location “perfect,” and then proceeded to explain exactly what he liked. We love to see a good review – but a review with specific recommendations is even better. The same goes for the second review, which was of our Columbus location. That diner loves to sit in the bar, and takes her recommendations for wine from our staff. That trust speaks volumes of what our customers think of us.
So if you’re on Yelp, please, go ahead, review us. Positive or negative, we’re listening.
