Chicken Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot stand out

Chicken Ranch Merlot

On Sundays and Mondays, most take a more relaxed attitude to dinner. It can be a great night to go out. Crowds are low, and if you have small children, it can be a much easier time to secure a good babysitter.

It’s also a nice night to find a good deal. Eddie Merlot’s offers select bottles of wine for half-off on Sundays and Mondays.

One of the most interesting choices that we offer is Chicken Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and the Chicken Ranch Merlot. This comes from the Trinchero Napa Valley vineyard, which is located on the northern border of the Rutherford appellation. It is said of the Rutherford appellation, which borders the Napa River, that it’s the best environment for growing Cabernet grapes. The soil is perfectly suited, and is primarily gravel, sand and loam, and provides water drainage.

Chicken Ranch Vineyard employs sustainable, organic and biodynamic practices in its farming. What’s it mean to be biodynamic? It emphasizes building soil fertility, tailoring the approach to the particular property. The vineyard crew uses a systematic approach based on the belief that the vineyard is a living organism. Practices work together and align with the earth’s natural cycles.

Recycling is a big part of the vineyard’s practices. Grape seeds, skins and landscape cuttings are recycled back into the land through composting.

Chicken Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is barrel aged 18 months in 91 percent French, six percent American and three percent Hungarian oak. It’s described by Trinchero this way: “A classic Cabernet nose with hints of vanilla precedes lush flavors of currant and raspberry ending in a smooth, lightly “dusty” finish. The 2005 vintage was awarded first place in a value tasting by the St. Helena Star editors and the Napa Valley Vintners Association. The 2007 vintage was awarded a score of 92. “A seriously good wine. Shows classic elegance in the dryness, fine tannins and restrained flavors of blackberries, black currants and cedar. Feels really refined in the mouth, with an herbaceousness that both grounds it and balances the fruit.”

Chicken Ranch Merlot is also aged 18 months, but only 50 percent in French oak, followed by 27 percent American and 23 percent Hungarian oak. “The signature flavors are earth and dried herbs. The color is deep, the nose is ripe and tinged with olives, leather and sage, and the flavors are ripe and lush.” Wine Enthusiast awarded the 2007 vintage 91 points.

Our wine selection varies somewhat by location, but the Chicken Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will be available at all locations and half-price on Sundays and Monday nights, along with many other wonderful bottles. Come enjoy a special night out in a more relaxed atmosphere and linger over a bottle of good wine.
