Joseph Davey honored with selection for wine program

Joseph Davey has worked with Eddie Merlot’s for three years now. He’s currently serving as General Manager of our Indianapolis location. He has an extensive background in the restaurant industry, and is in fact a Certified Sommelier. He has also served as our beverage director, selecting wines for us and working with the restaurants to elevate the beverage experience.

Joseph has received quite an honor: he has been selected as one of eight sommeliers from across the U.S. to go to Napa and work on creating a Sommelier Selection Cabernet Sauvignon for Raymond Vineyards. He will spend two days at the vineyard. Winemaker Stephanie Putnam will lead the blending session by providing background on the individual components and the framework for the blending exercise.  Teams of two will pair together and be asked to submit their preferred blend from Napa, Sonoma, and Lake County Cabernets, Merlots, and Cabernet Francs.  The panel of sommeliers and the Raymond winemaking team will blindly taste the blends, and select their favorites. The blend that ranks the highest will ultimately become the 2011 Raymond Sommelier Selection Cabernet Sauvignon.
