Eddie Merlot’s: the choice of elite athletes

We’ve noticed a small trend recently, and it’s one we like. We think of Eddie Merlot’s as a great place for celebrations, rewards and treats, and of course a great place for a really relaxing evening. It seems that others second that.

First, we saw this great story in the Fort Wayne, Indiana, newspaper, in which Komets Forward Chris Auger notes that the player who blocks the most shots gets a free lunch. Chris says Eddie Merlot’s would be his choice. (Thanks, Chris!) This was during the holiday season when we’re regularly open for lunch. (Louisville is the only location open for lunch year-round.)

We also recently got a reservation from the Mad Ants – Fort Wayne’s NBA Development League team. They visit us annually for a lunch during the holiday season.

Another elite athlete picked Eddie Merlot’s for her special event. Mariah Hamil, a senior at Homestead High School,  recently signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for Coach Braden Holloway at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. starting in the fall 2012 semester. Mariah is an accomplished athlete. She is a 2010-2011 High School All-American in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle, has placed in several statewide competitions and is the record holder at Homestead High in the 100 freestyle.

We cheered on Mariah with a special dessert

Mariah chose Eddie Merlot’s for her signing, and we were delighted to have her. We heard that the North Carolina State folks now want to visit us for a meal. It’s a bit of a drive, but you’re welcome any time!

We do have other athletes at other locations who join us on occasion, including Colts players in Indianapolis, Chicago Blackhawks in Burr Ridge, Illinois, college athletes and coaches from the University of Louisville at our downtown Louisville location and Bengals in Cincinnati.

We’re proud to be a location of choice for anyone – but particularly for those who are celebrating accomplishments.

In another month, Indianapolis will be besieged with football fans, and pro players, for the Superbowl. We’ll be ready to  host the coming crowds. We’re thrilled to see this event come to town, bringing an estimated 150,000 visitors to town, including 5,000 credentialed media.

If you’d like to host a Superbowl gathering at Eddie Merlot’s on the weekend of February 4-5, we recommend reserving early. If you’d like to book a group event, contact our sales manager, Naydia Mills, and she’ll gladly help you plan your event at Eddie Merlot’s. Again, we recommend making that contact NOW.

You can reach our Indianapolis location at (317) 846-8303. You can also make reservations on OpenTable, and also through our web site, www.eddiemerlots.com.
